FAQ: Are there any imaging-specific provisions that need to be incorporated into my IRB protocol and/or consent form?

This is usually determined on a per-study basis. The HIRO works with the BSD IRB frequently to ensure that our operations are fully HIPAA and IRB compliant. We are able to assist with IRB-related imaging questions and will work directly with the IRB to help resolve them.

In some rare circumstances, in order for the HIRO to become fully involved in your research project, it may be necessary for certain HIRO staff members to be added to your IRB protocol as ancillary research staff (although this is generally not required and in fact discouraged). The specific staff members that need to be added are determined on a per-study basis and they are added only so that they can view and manage the Protected Health Information of your study subjects.
