FAQ: My research scans do not require or should not receive a radiologist interpretation. How can I prevent this interpretation and/or avoid any related charges?

The Radiology Department's standard policy is that all imaging exams done on humans using the Department's equipment must be interpreted by an on-staff radiologist for reasons of medical and legal liability. Rare exceptions to this policy exist and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If you believe that imaging exams for your study should be exempt from radiologist interpretation, you must consult with the HIRO prior to starting your study.
