FAQ: Is there any way to turn off all the image request emails I'm getting?

Whenever a user submits an image data request to the HIRO, our website will automatically email the Principal Investigator of the relevant research study as well as any other study personnel that have been granted "Healthcare Image Data Request" access. This is done so that all the appropriate personnel involved in the study are informed when new requests are made. Similarly, an automated email will go out to the same individuals mentioned above once the HIRO has completed an image data request. If the protocol was registered on behalf of the PI by a Technical Liaison, the PI will not receive these emails.

Although we attempt to keep these emails short and informative, we realize that studies with high levels of activity may generate a large number of automated emails. As such, we have made it possible for users to "opt out" of receiving automated image request emails if they so choose. To opt out of receiving these emails, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log into the HIRO website using your HIRO account.
  2. Click the My Account link in the User menu list on the left side of the page.
  3. You will see a page with your HIRO account information. Click the Edit tab at the top of the page.
  4. You will see a page that lets you edit/update your account profile. Click the Preferences button.
  5. Uncheck the box for Receive HIRO Image/Report Request Emails and click the Save button. You will now no longer receive automated emails relating to image requests for any studies.

If you are having trouble with this process, feel free to contact the HIRO (hirohelp [at] bsd.uchicago.edu) and we will change your account preferences for you.

PLEASE NOTE: If you opt out of receiving image request emails, you will no longer receive notifications regarding image requests for any studies that you are associated with. To view the status of any image requests for studies that you are associated with, you will need to use the View Image Requests button on left side of the website. You will still receive emails relating to new research protocol registrations and notifications whenever you are added as personnel to a protocol.
