University receives research PACS grant!

The University of Chicago has learned that its recently submitted NIH Shared Instrument Grant (SIG) for a research PACS system has been selected for funding! Several members of the HIRO's faculty and staff were integral in preparing and submitting the grant, and many of them will play active roles in creating and managing the system. The research PACS is intended to provide the University's biomedical research community with a centralized system for searching, storing, organizing and sharing all types of research imaging data (human, animal and cellular) as well as all of the associated descriptive data (reports, analysis results, keywords). Stay tuned for updates regarding this exciting new system! The principal investigator of the research PACS SIG is Samuel G. Armato (grant number 1 S10 RR027969-01A1). The official posting on the NIH's website can be found here.
